Our Early Years Provision at Winsford High Street Community Primary School is driven by the needs of our pupils who join us from varied starting points and with varied life experiences.  We strive to ensure that by the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage the children at Winsford High Street will be happy, confident, resilient, independent learners who embody the characteristics of effective learning to allow them to transition smoothly into Year One.  Our Early Years Foundation Stage allows children to actively ask questions, build on their natural curiosity, develop problem-solving abilities and broaden their purposeful knowledge and skills.  At Winsford High Street we strongly believe that the Early Years Foundation Stage is crucial to children’s later learning and therefore strive to give them the very best start to their education.

We offer 15 hours of funded nursery education to children the term after their third birthday.  Your child may be entitled to 30 hours funded nursery education and you can find out more at: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

You will find an information booklet about the nursery in the 'files' section below. This will provide information such as uniform, snacks, session times etc.

We deliver the Early Years Curriculum to the children through interactive play-based activities indoors and outdoors. More information about the Early Years Curriculum can be found on the following website: http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/

We try to bake with the children at least once a week and aim to go on day visits once a term. We also use the local amenities to support the children’s learning with visits to places like ASDA and the local library.

During your child’s time at Winsford High Street Primary School Nursery we will keep a learning journey of your child. This is comprised of photographs of the children, observations of learning and pieces of work completed by the child. In addition to the paper learning journey we also use an electronic learning Journey. Parents are encouraged to sign up to the electronic learning journey which allows you to see observations made of your child and also enables you to contribute ‘Wow’ moments that you see at home. More information will be provided as your child enters the nursery.

We are a fully inclusive primary school and nursery. If your child has special educational needs or you have any concerns over your child please speak to a member of staff so we can support you in your child’s transition into Nursery. Our school Special Educational Needs policy can be found on the school website.

If you would like to put in an application for a place at our nursery the forms can be collected from the school office or downloaded from the Nursery Admissions section. We will contact you about your child’s place the term prior to them starting. We currently have September, January and Easter intakes.

Please note that due to the demand for places we cannot guarantee that having your child on our waiting list will guarantee you a place or your requested sessions. If you have any further questions about the nursery please contact the school on 01606 668066. We look forward to having the opportunity to work with you and your child.
