Dear Parents / Carers

Manchester

With the news of the sad events in Manchester on Monday of this week, I would like to inform you that we have held a minutes silence today to enable the children to think about the families of those lost and ways in which people can support them. This has been done at the appropriate level for the children in the different year groups. In addition we will be holding a non-uniform day tomorrow to raise funds for the families of those who have lost loved ones. Should the children wish to come to school in more casual clothing for the day, then we ask that they make a donation which will be sent to the relevant people. Many thanks for your support with this matter.

KS2 Sports

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to move the KS2 sports afternoon from 9th June to Friday 16th June from 1.00pm; apologies for any inconvenience which this may cause.

New Website

Please note that our new website is now live and contains lots of information about the school. Over the next few months the children will gradually be given passwords for a safe area of the site which will contain further details for them and on which they will be able to share their work. Furthermore as parents you will be provided with a log in at the start of the new academic year. This will enable you to access areas of the site and make payments for visits etc. through the relevant facility.

Term Dates for 2017-18

Please note that these have been posted on the new website. Please pay close attention to these to avoid holidays during term time.

Building Work

We are very hopeful that the new classroom block will be ‘handed over’ towards the end of next week. Once this has taken place we will look to move in towards the end of the first week following our return after the half term. We were looking to move in during the half term break but unfortunately additional boxing in of pipes and the connection of the gas main needs to be completed before we do so.

Many thanks for your support in helping us to allow the contractors more access to the area around the new office block to complete the drainage. This has speeded up the process and should result in the office block being handed over towards the middle of June. We will keep you informed of the progress and advise you of when the new offices will replace the old ones.

Sunny Weather

With the advent of the sunnier weather please can I remind you to get your children to apply sun cream before school. In addition it may be appropriate to send your child to school with a sun hat to protect them during the break times. Please can we also remind you to send your child to school with a water bottle to keep them hydrated during the warm periods.

Wrap Around Care

Please note that all bookings and payments for the before and after school club need to be made online.

Should you experience any difficulty in doing so, please contact Mrs Collins in the school office who will guide you through the process.

New Classes

During the coming weeks, the staff will ask the children to identify three pupils from their cohort that they work well with and who they feel are their friends. We will then look to allocate the children to their new classes based on this information as well as on the different personalities in each class. This is a process we have undertaken in the past and one that helps us to support the needs of the children as they develop and progress through the school.

School Half Term

The school will close for the half term break at 3.15pm on Friday and will reopen for the children on Monday 5th June.

School Nursery

Places are filling up fast for the school nursery, if you require any nursery provision for September then please contact Miss Garnett via the school office. Please note that from September, parents may be eligible for up to 30 hours of free nursery education. Further details can be found on our school website.

If you have any concerns or issues to raise with regards to your child or aspects of school life, please don’t hesitate to contact me via the school office.

Kind regards

Mark Joule

Headteacher
