After School Club

I am pleased to announce that we have now relaunched our After School Provision. As a result of changes to staff, the club can now take up to 45 pupils per evening. Mr Bebbington has been appointed as the club lead and will be supported by Miss Golden and Miss Royden.

The new team have been working on the development of activities to engage the children. These will involve physical activities, social activities, structured play as well as the opportunity for children to read / complete homework activities. Bookings for the After School Club can be made through the Eduspot website. Payment is required in advance.

Year 5 London Residential

There will be a Parents/Carers meeting for all children attending the Y5 London Residential on Thursday 6th February at 3.20pm in the school theatre.

Breakfast Club

The breakfast club will continue to be led by Mrs Hardwick and run with the support of Mr Spann. Again we have been reviewing the activities on offer and providing the children with the opportunity to read to one of the members of staff.

During the coming weeks the changes to both clubs will be reviewed and modifications made should they be required. The children will also be working with the staff to think of a name for the facility and to design a logo to represent the clubs.

Sporting Success

Netball

Congratulations to our mixed Y5/6 netball team. Last week they competed in the final round of the Winsford tournament winning all of their games. They will now progress to the Vale Royal Finals. Well done to all concerned!

Football

The Y5/6 football team also enjoyed a degree of success last week in the Crewe Alexandra tournament. Following a shaky start where they were beaten 2-0, they dominated play and won their remaining games 3-0 and 1-0. Unfortunately the mini league ended with three teams on 6 points and the High Street contingent lost out on progressing to the finals on goal difference. However we are very proud of all of our players.

Athletics

The Y5/6 athletics team enjoyed a great deal of success in the indoor athletics tournament held last Wednesday. The team represented the school with a great deal of skill and enthusiasm. They won all but one of the races / field events and will now progress to the Vale Royal finals at Rudheath on 3rd February 2020. Well done to all of the athletes, a fantastic achievement!

Public Speaking

I am delighted to inform you that our three representatives who participated in the Public Speaking Competition in Chester this week did so with confidence and enthusiasm: They had compiled their own speeches on ‘No Outsiders’ and presented these to their peers before taking part in the finals at the Story House. Each child spoke clearly and articulately. Well done to all concerned!

World of Work

As a school we are constantly looking for representatives from the world of work to speak to our pupils to inspire them as to the jobs available as they grow up. We are currently looking for NHS guest speakers to come and talk to us about their job roles as well as other professionals in other lines of work. Should you be able to spare a small amount of time to help, please contact Mrs Raistrick via the school office or by emailing admin@highstreet.cheshire.sch.uk
