Chair of Governors - Resources Committee

I was a teacher at Winsford High Street for nineteen years before my retirement in 2015. Before retiring I was a staff Governor. I then went on to become a co-opted member of the the governing team. I am now very proud to be chair of the Board of Governors. I am a member of the Resources Committee and the Environment Committee. In my role as Governor I feel that I am working on behalf of all members of the school community to ensure that the school continues to provide the best education possible for all its pupils. I currently attend meetings with school staff in the Humanities Curriculum team and the Y5/6 Base team. I love coming into school to watch performances, I go on residential and day trips with the staff and children and enjoy seeing the school in action.

I have taught in Winsford for 42 years, and for 33 of them I have worked at Winsford High Street Community Primary School. You could say that the school has been my passion and I support the school with my vast wealth of experience.  Since my retirement 7 years ago I have been the Community Governor at this school. I attend the full Governor meetings as well as Chairing the the Environment committee and being a member of the Resources Committee.

As Safeguarding Governor I take my role very seriously. I regularly attend the Base (Early Years) and Curriculum (Languages) meetings held each week. As a very hands-on Governor I help with the new Nursery and support the school on educational visits and concerts etc. I also represent the school at the WEP Lead Governor meetings and I am committed to furthering my own knowledge by attending Governor courses and conferences.

Local Authority Governor: Mike Whitaker

I have been a governor at Winsford High Street for a number of years. I am very proud, pleased and privileged to be associated and involved with such a good school.I enjoy working with the staff and children and seeing the school develop and flourish.  I call into school whenever possible and enjoy meeting the School Council and other children in their classes. I have been fortunate to visit the children on some of their residential visits and share the belief that the first hand experiences which the school provides the children are most valuable. I specifically enjoy the children’s performances which I am invited to. I also enjoy my role as Special Educational Needs Governor and finding out how the children with such needs, progress through the school.

Prior to becoming a governor I worked in the education sector as a teacher and a Head Teacher. I spent the latter stages of my career as the Chair of the Cheshire Association of Primary Head Teachers and as a lecturer at Universities of Chester and Edge Hill.
