School Sport Funding

Primary PE and Sport Funding

During the 2017-18 academic year Winsford High street was in receipt of £9785 in Sport Funding (PE).

This additional money was used specifically to enhance the provision of sports within the school and to promote healty lifestyles for the children. The funding helped to improve the quality and breadth of our PE & Sport provision through continually developing teaching and learning in PE, encouraging our pupils to adopt healthy active lifestyles and to take part in a wide range of sports and physical activities including more competitive school sport.

This funding is ring fenced, and is allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with dedicated resource to buy invaluable expertise and support. Funding is allocated through a lump sum for each school and a per-pupil top-up mechanism. The formula references the number of primary-aged pupils (i.e. children between the ages of 5 and 11). For 2016-17 all schools with seventeen or more primary-aged pupils received  a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil.
