Curriculum Information

What is the intent of our curriculum at Winsford High Street Primary School?

Our curriculum at Winsford High Street Community Primary School is driven by the needs of our pupils, the locality of our pupils and the desire to provide first-hand experiences which will  equip our pupils with a sense of worth, empowerment and respect, preparing them for the next stage of transition in education.

Through the curriculum, the children at High Street are encouraged to reflect on their learning  and to improve and develop their skills to enable them to access a future career pathway. Our students will face unique economic, environmental, and humanitarian challenges in the future therefore we aim to build skills for problem solving which will address these challenges. We encourage critical thinking through creativity, practical experiences and collaborative learning.

The aims of our school curriculum are:

  • to enable pupils to develop knowledge, understand concepts and acquire skills, and be able to choose and apply these in relevant situations
  • to promote a positive attitude towards learning, so that children enjoy coming to school, and acquire a solid basis for lifelong learning;
  • to teach children the basic skills in English and Maths
